One of our brand-new options is the Horizon Apps Standard Subscription offering, which represents the lowest-cost path to VMware Horizon’s enterprise desktop and app virtualization capabilities. Created with low-complexity environments in mind, Horizon Apps Standard Subscription provides advanced management and best-in-class user experience capabilities to customers that don’t require hybrid management or enterprise-class application and user environment management. These instructions have been prepared for Windows computers, but they can also be applied for Mac and Cubbli.Recently, we announced new subscription licensing and packaging options for VMware Horizon. Broadly speaking, we believe our approach to transitioning to a more flexible subscription licensing model will help more customers leverage the VMware Horizon platform, and do so in a way that can easily grow and adapt to the changing demands placed on remote desktop and application environments. The VMware Horizon Client software is installed centrally on the workstations of the University. By default, people in an employment relationship with the university can see both Windows and Linux computers and others only see Linuxes. The selection of available computers depends on the user’s employment status and any possible additionally purchased licences. Here you can find a more detailed description of what a virtual workstation is. All other programs can also be used in a virtual desktop in the same way as in conventional university workstations. The University of Helsinki uses a virtual desktop environment (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure VDI environment) used with the VMware Horizon Client software. You can access a Windows 10 university desktop computer on your home computer using a remote connection.
